Skin care tips for incontinence

Incontinence irritates the skin and makes it susceptible to dermatitis, infections, and rashes. Hygiene tailored to the skin of older people helps prevent skin irritation and promotes well-being.

Keep the skin clean and dry at all times, especially when changing incontinence products. Wash the affected person's genital area at least twice a day with warm water and a soap-free, mild cleanser.

Avoid products containing alcohol or disinfectants, as these could dry out the skin and cause soreness, rashes, and skin damage.
